REVEALED! SUNAK’S REAL VIEW ON CARE FOR THE ELDERLY
WHAT does Rishi Sunak REALLY think about care for the elderly?

WHAT does Rishi Sunak REALLY think about care for the elderly? I have obtained an extraordinary WhatsApp exchange that provides some answers. These are messages the prime minister probably wouldn’t want voters to see. Put simply, they don’t paint a flattering picture – and seem unlikely to impress the ‘grey vote.’
Care for the elderly is an issue that affects millions of families and has topped the agenda in previous general elections. All political parties agree that the existing system is broken. None has fixed it.
Theresa May’s snap election campaign was famously overshadowed by a disastrous policy involving a retrospective levy on estates. Designed to allow the elderly to stay in their own homes, it was swiftly dubbed a ‘dementia tax.’ Following an outcry, she had to u-turn.
For the best part of 20 years, no other prime minister has done any better. They’ve simply thrown cash at sticking plaster solutions.
The shameful failure to change the system leaves many vulnerable elderly people and their families facing financial ruin. While some are cared for by the state, others have to sell all their assets to pay for residential care.
In a manifest injustice, those diagnosed with terminal cancer have a high chance of taxpayer funded residential care, or the support of a hospice, however wealthy they may be. Ditto those with complex physical needs. But those whose medical conditions that don’t tick the right boxes – especially people suffering from dementia - often have to pay for everything themselves. Costs can run to thousands a week.
Tory spin doctors will be relieved this issue has not featured high on the agenda so far this election. Why? Because Sunak doesn’t have a great story to tell.
The WhatsApp messages I have obtained concerning his position when he was Chancellor don’t reflect well…
